Exfoliants have played an important role in the cosmetic industry for years. Historically they were part of the skincare routine in many cultures. Today we have a range of exfoliants in the market that are good for your skin, it is just that you need to pick wisely. Okay, don’t get confused, let me briefly tell you what are exfoliants?
Exfoliants are substances that help to slough off dead skin cells from the surface of our skin. They gently cleanse and exfoliate your skin to regain the soft, smooth and rejuvenated glow of your face.

WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO EXFOLIATE?

Let me explain in detail so that you know what are you using and why you have to use it – basically, the epidermis which is the top layer of our skin is made itself of different layers beneath and is the only layer of our skin that goes through a process of renewal every 20 days to 28 days on an average. From around 25 years and so on so forth this process keeps on increasing as you get older. There are a lot of studies that suggest that when the dust accumulates into the skin, it leads to premature ageing and inflammation within the tissue. So, it’s really bad for our skin and our health in general. It also increases the dead skin cells on top of the skin, because of it the skin looks dull and lifeless.
Thus, it’s important to exfoliate because when the process gets slower our skin looks dull, flaky, and becomes lifeless. It is important to notice that when the skin cells from the deepest layer rise on the surface they get accumulate which is the trap for dirt and pollution particles. They are capable to trap bacteria, harmful rays and other impurities. The skin becomes a perfect environment for the bacteria to grow, skin becomes acne-prone and other kinds of skin concerns arise. Moreover, these are dead skin cells and also act as barriers to all the cream and skin care products you are applying to your skin and nothing penetrates the skin for repair or renewal. Thus, exfoliating is a crucial part of the skincare routine to remove the dead cells and initiate the renewal process for glowing and healthy skin.

LET’S SEE THE TWO TYPES OF EXFOLIANTS AND THEIR DIFFERENCE.

What are physical or chemical exfoliants?
The difference is that chemical exfoliants use acids or enzymes to soften and loosen the cells, while physical exfoliants—products contain tiny particles, or any sort of textured surface, like a washcloth and they work by scrubbing away the dead skin and debris.
Please see, that Physical exfoliants are product that has beads or granules within the formulation. Physically, when you massage it on the skin it will directly remove those dead skin cells physically, then you can remove them by washing your face or using other skincare products afterwards.
On the other hand, the chemical exfoliants are the products have certain specific compounds that within the formulation that chemically remove those dead skin cells from your skin.

YOU MUST BE WONDERING WHICH ONE TO USE OR WHICH IS BETTER?

We have seen the difference between the two categories – here first let me tell you that chemical exfoliants have subcategories as well as Like, aha BHA and PHA that are used based on your skin type – also let me inform you all that you can take a skin test for free on my website  and know you skin better for your skincare routine (we will posting a new blog soon for this) – until then keep reading about which one to use physical or chemical?
So, if you want to avoid anything, that’s physical for example when the skin is sensitive, especially around the eyes or if you’re suffering from inflammation, or if you’re having acne and you don’t want to create any more friction on the skin or like for example you are not willing to rub anything extra on your skin due to the current skin concerns or sensitivity – then chemical exfoliants are the best to use.
Moreover, the physical exfoliants had granules something that’s physically going to remove the dead skin cells  so more suitable for T Zone or for those of you with more resilient skins.
Chemical exfoliants have some type of active ingredient that will remove the dead skin cell from your skin with our any ‘physical massage or motion ” , just by applying the product on the skin  you will be left with glowing and baby soft skin .
